The Role: Training Coordinator – Emergency Health Unit (EHU) – External Roster
We are looking for a Training Coordinator, who will be responsible for the management and oversight of the in-country training needs for staff.  They will lead on the organisation and implementation of the induction, core technical areas trainings and capacity building activities for the national staff, as well as the coordination of the refresher training requirements for the deployed members of Save the Children’s outbreak response team.


They will work closely with each technical lead within the deployed team, within a variety of different contexts and they will support the delivery of the trainings, making sure that the best use of resources (human and material) are undertaken and that they contribute to the continuous improvement of the training delivery and package. They will manage multiple streams of work being implemented and they will act as a technical resource when required.  They will play a central role in building the local capacity of field staff (i.e. ministry of Health or other NGOs), in areas related to the response, through training delivery.

About the Emergency Health Unit:
Save the Children’s origins lie in emergency response. The Emergency Health Unit (EHU) is an operational team deployed to support the Save the Children Humanitarian Health, Nutrition, HIV and WASH Strategy in providing and improving humanitarian responses. The EHU holds a pre-standing emergency health capacity to deploy in the event of a major disaster, diseases outbreak or conflict that affects population health and they will be set up within 72 hours of the disaster or identified emergency.

Save the Children’s Emergency Health Unit is currently enlisting candidates for their humanitarian emergency roster to safeguard strong external health and operational support surge capacity when our emergency responses require it. As a member of our roster you will only be deployed when gaps are identified in our responses and depending on the nature of the response you may be asked to deploy at short notice, often to insecure environments.

The role’s requirements:
•  To become part of the external roster as a Training Coordinator, a holder of a degree or master’s degree in educational psychology, Pedagogy, Educational or Learning Sciences, with at least two years field experience or a strong knowledge of adult learning theory, student-cantered learning, and design, development and the delivery of blended learning solutions with at least two years field experience. 

In addition you will need to have:
•  Is a patient and good communicator (oral/written), who can function well in a working environment that involves a lot of diversity of cultures, languages, and personal interests and agendas.
•  Able to implement training programs and experience in developing and facilitating learner-centred activities.
•  Experience in adult learning principals and training of trainer’s expertise. 
•  Experience in designing, developing and delivering trainings, preferably in multicultural contexts
•  Able to work independently and manage various tasks under tight deadlines.
•  Available to deploy for at least six weeks, at any one time.

The roster does not automatically translate to a paid role as it is dependent on the scale of our response and the availability of the roster members.

Deployments with Save the Children are paid, unless specifically identified as a volunteer role.
