Brief Summary of Role
The MuleSoft Platform Engineer will work both onsite and offsite, closely coordinating tasks and responsibilities with the Appirio MuleSoft Architect, Appirio MuleSoft Implementation teams and the client project teams in order to implement and support the Cloubhub installations required by the client. The role holder will be responsible for day-to-day running and monitoring of the platform as well as upgrades to the services. The Platform Engineer should have a deep understanding of how to design and configure the platform for best practice; experience of RTF installations is highly desirable. The incumbent is also expected to be involved in development activities when not monitoring the system infrastructure so the role will suit someone looking to play a technical role across the whole spectrum of the project engagement.  The position is also likely to have offshore resources working with them, so experience of running a small team would be beneficial. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate an ability to analyse integration requirements, architect solutions, and implement cloud to cloud and cloud to on premise integration solutions. This role will require primarily an in-depth knowledge of MuleSoft but a wider understanding of other integration technologies would also be beneficial.
Responsibilities
  • Analyse and interpret requirements from the client and/or Integration Architect on the size and complexity of the required integration landscape and translate those needs into an appropriate platform solution. 
  • Participate in pre-sales calls to conduct a feasibility assessment and provide creative solutions, appropriate platform design and level-of-effort estimates for customer requests and requirements. 
  • Evaluate middleware solutions and make customer-specific recommendations
  • Define system architecture for data integration and data management
  • Clearly articulate integration best practices, design patterns, best practices, and recommendations to customer IT teams and also business sponsors.
  • Lead an integration strategy with cloud and on-premise solutions which entails the following duties: requirements gathering, design, and POC. 
  • Lead the integration of business processes across disparate systems
  • Document integration best practices to share with the consulting team
  • Design and develop specific and reusable assets that will streamline the platform build process.
Education and Required Experience (Requirements)
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 10+ years of experience with technical implementations of customer projects
  • 5+ years of experience as an Enterprise developer
  • MuleSoft Anypoint platform experience and certification a plus 
  • Expertise with technology standards – BPM, SOA, B2B, EAI
  • Experience with other Middleware platforms like Dell Boomi, Talend, Informatica or Jitterbit preferred
  • Expertise with data management, SQL and RDBMS technologies, SOA design principles
  • Expertise with SOAP-based web services, SQL, Apex, SOQL, XML, JavaScript
  • Application development experience with Javascript, XML, HTTP, Java, C++, ASP, SQL
  • Experience with technology frameworks - TOGAF, ITIL, CMMI a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of project management principles and Agile Methodology.
  • An enthusiastic, ultra-professional, and confident personality, with a focus on customer success
  • Excellent listening skills to fully understand the customer requirements and pain points
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into implementation plans
  • Technical acumen to convert plans into real solutions that work
  • Prior experience in consulting is a plus
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills
  • Driven by customer success with a team player attitude
  • Able to travel as required
