Project description
We are preparing a tender offer for a programme that will tackle major healthcare issues regarding reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent health, in particular services for reproductive health, including basic emergency obstetric and neonatal care and post-partum family planning services in the supported partner health facilities with a strive for introducing or strengthening Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (CEmONC).
Project activities include integrating Family Planning counselling into Antenatal Care (ANC), Postnatal Care (PNC) and Expanded Programme on Imunization (EPI), developing and implementing behaviour change interventions for FP providers and maybe even developing and providing (youth-friendly) Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials.
Job description
The expert will be based full time in Mbeya and will be working under the Team Leader based in Dar es Salaam, in close collaboration with the other target region, paediatric and family planning long term experts as well as the international and national short term FP experts.
He/she will work on building and enhancing the capacity of staff in the target facilities to provide adequate new-born care and the use of a patient-centred care approach.
Following activities are planned: strengthening mentorship and supportive supervision, providing on-the-job training to service providers (mentors jointly with Reproductive Health Coordinators from councils and regions) using a supportive, empathic mentoring and coaching approach to increase confidence, knowledge and skills. Train on Asphyxia prevention and management and overall establish continuous learning processes.
Qualifications
Applicants should bring the following qualifications:
- University qualification in medicine, licensed physician in Tanzania and completed specialization in obstetrics/gynaecology (board registration)
- 7 years of professional clinical experience in obstetrics/gynaecology
- 3 years of experience in quality improvement processes in maternal health, 3 years of experience in conducting clinical training and mentoring in maternal health including obstetric emergency care
- Working knowledge language skills in English and Kiswahili
