Human Resources Business Partner Ethiopia

Role Purpose
The Country Human Resources Business Partner, Ethiopia will support the Head of HR Kenya & East Africa by providing operational HR expertise across the broad spectrum of HR activity, to support efficient and effective business operations. This role supports the country leadership team to develop strategies, plans, budgets, projects and timelines to deliver the country people and business plan. The role will be key to ensuring that the HR services provided in region are consistent with global HR policies and processes, reflect local policy frameworks, and are high quality and efficient. The role acts as an adviser/business partner to country leadership, HR and business leads.
Challenges & Accountabilities
The global HR team is undergoing a significant transformation to position it more effectively to support the rapidly changing needs of the British Council. The HR Business partner(HRBP) is part of the SSA HR busineering strand under the East Africa Custer.The HR Business Partner,Ethiopia reports to the Head of HR Kenya & East Africa. This post is instrumental in ensuring that all HR is well supported and presented, procedures and policies are adhered to and that operational teams are knowledgeable about, and compliant with, the HR embedded within their business as usual processes. The post holder will contribute to the on-going development of British Council Ethiopia as a key priority and high-performing country operation, modelling the values and principles of a collaborative, integrated and mutually supportive team.
The Country HRBP reports to the HRBP Cluster lead and will work closely with other members of the regional HR team, who provide senior HR expertise to the region. The Country HRBP will also need to engage with HR leaders in the global Centres of Expertise, in People Advisory, in People Operations, in Shared Services Teams and in Strategic Business Units to ensure alignment of frameworks, policies, casework and core standards and ensure HR/business insights and knowledge is shared.
As with any business that experiences peaks and troughs of activity, there is likely to be a need to work outside office hours from time to time.

Essential Requirements
The successful candidate will need to possess the following requirements:
- Fluency in written and spoken English (Shortlisted candidates will need to demonstrate that they meet the required standard through the APTIS test which will be administered as part of the recruitment and selection exercise)
- First degree in Human Resources or a relevant professional HR qualification
- About 3 years’ experience in HRM in a multinational organization
- Proven track record in HR Management
- Ability to demonstrate understanding of best practice in HR processes and systems
- Excellent commercial acumen and understanding of business strategy and practices
- Knowledge of Ethiopian Labour law
- CIPD qualified or equivalent
- Experience Managing change
