Summary:
The role of the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) is to support the delivery of patient care under the supervision and direction of qualified nursing personnel. The role involves collaborating with the nursing staff, in assisting patients with the activities of daily living, and collaborating with all members of ward staff in creating an efficient, safe and friendly environment for care delivery.

The role involves collaborating with the nursing staff, in assisting patients with the activities of daily living, and collaborating with all members of ward staff in creating an efficient, safe and friendly environment for care delivery.
Position Responsibilities:
- Greets and receives patients with a smile and a servant's attitude
- Maintains confidentiality
- Carries documents and/or specimens from one department to another under the direct supervision of nursing staff and/or clerks
- Maintains stock levels of non-medicine stock in patient and non-patient areas
- Answers and channels telephone calls and relays messages to the staff
- Directs visitors
- Assists Clerks with checking unit stock level (of disposables) and ordering from the stores as per need
- Correctly assembles and maintain patient charts from admission to discharge and includes filing of documents
- Dresses professionally and acts in a professional manner
- Communicates professionally with Patients, Visitors and all Oasis Hospital staff
- Follows up on all assigned tasks and give timely feedback to the immediate supervisor
- Cleans organizes and keeps the unit in order
- Gets equipment and materials needed by midwifery, nursing and medical staff
Assist with the orientation of new staff
