About the position
The Freedom Fund has been working in Ethiopia since 2015, focusing its work on generating improved understanding and practices of safer migration, providing socio-economic support to those most likely to migrate, reintegrating victims of trafficking, promoting learning and good practices among civil society, and strengthening governance structures and systems to improve labour migration governance. By 2019, the Ethiopia program had impacted over 128,000 survivors of trafficking and vulnerable women and girls through its hotspot work.As we are expanding our work in Addis Ababa and surrounding areas, we are looking for an energetic and reliable Driver and Logistics Assistant to join our team.
Reporting to the Country Representative, the Driver and Logistics Assistant provides reliable and safe driving services to the Freedom Fund Ethiopia team and visitors, ensuring the highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, and excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues.
Specifically, the Driver and Logistics Assistant will:
Driver
- Drive the vehicle assigned safely, with strict observance of traffic rules and regulations and the organization's internal policy.
- Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the car (checking fuel, oil, water, brakes, tires), performing minor repairs and ensures the safety of the car all the time, including visually inspecting and manually testing the vehicle pre-departure and before accepting passengers.
- Welcome passengers / clients and assist them in entering and leaving the vehicle. Assist with baggage handling and any other requests of the passengers / clients to ensure a smooth and pleasant journey.
- Interacts effectively with personnel, with a courteous and accommodating attitude.
- Provide support to the CR/assigned supervisor in relation to vehicle licensing and insurance.
- Read and understand specific vehicle operating manual and be able to operate every device in the car.
- Read and understand roadmaps; employing available resources to get information on travel sites.
- Ensure that the logbook is fully used, and that all travel is recorded, including daily mileage and fuel consumption.
- Maintain and operate communications devices, emergency response and contingency equipment, including fire extinguisher, first aid kit supplies, etc.
- Take proper actions if accidents occur, notifying law enforcement and the Freedom Fund Country Representative for insurance follow up as well as minimizing any liability to the organization.
- Maintain the automobile is in clean, polished, flawless operating condition.
- Ensure that the vehicle is utilized for the sole purpose of the organization's work and as per the vehicle management policy.
- Prepare quarter and annual reports on vehicle(s) performance i.e, mileage and cost encoured per vehicle (as per the logbook information)
Logistics Assistant
- Assist the office in collecting price quotes on goods and services required for the operation of the organisation
- Make site visits and find resources to help staff make decisions about event possibilities
- Run errands pertaining to the arrangement of staff / visitor travel and office supplies
- Perform other duties as assigned by Country Representative /assigned supervisor
full TIME/ PERMANENT POSITION of 40 hours per week

Job Requirements
Qualifications and experience
Essential- Proven experience of driving professionally for an organization
- Safe driving record and clean drivers’ license.
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, including skills in minor vehicle repair.
- Proven experience of logistical support, with strong administration skills
- Education completed to high school level.
- Ability to communicate well in English and Amharic
Desirable
- Over five years driving experience for international or local NGO`s
- General Mechanics Diploma
- Multilingual (beyond Amharic and English).

Compensation
- USD 7,200 to 9,600 per annum, depending on experience
- 11% pension contributions
- 33 days holiday pro rata, inclusive of public holidays
