Parsons extensive experience combined with your finance management skills, including reviewing contracts, and identifying potential conflicts. At this level you will provide technical guidance to assigned personnel, and ensures proficiency and timeliness of contract administration. In this role, you will manage all contract activity for a Division, a major market segment, or for a major project. Travel to the client's offices or to the project site may be required, either before the contract receives final approval or during the life of the contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Include reviewing, recommending revisions to, and, approving all required contractual documentation. The Contracts Manager reviews contractual terms and conditions to ensure compliance with contract obligations and requirements.
  • Provides technical guidance to assigned personnel, and ensures proficiency and timeliness of contract administration.
  • Coordinate all matters regarding contract administration, claims, disputes, contract interpretation and cost control.
  • Develop, implement and manage systems and procedures for the monitoring of external and internal contracts to ensure contract compliance issues are resolved both timely and effectively.
  • Make knowledgeable recommendations regarding contract procurement and types of underlying contracts and agreements.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of commercial processes through refining contract formulation activities, systems and procedures.
  • Identify potential claims, checking for compliance with applicable contractual terms and ensuring effective negotiation and settlement of claims.
  • Prepare claims to effectively negotiate with contractors, including the calculation of losses incurred through defaults on contractual obligations. Formulate suggestions to remedy the failure to meet contractual obligations. The Contracts Manager will have proven experience and achievement in the management and review of the contractual aspects of large complex construction projects and evidence of successful negotiations of substantial claims and variations.
  • Responsible for the timely preparation of legal and contractual documents such as; Request for Proposals (RFP) and other legal or contractual documents.
  • Collaborates with Division and project management to ensure proper support in proposal preparation, as well as contract negotiations and administration.
  • Reviews requests for proposals to identify risks and contractual terms not conforming to Company policy.
  • Maintains an active participation in related professional societies to keep abreast of relevant contractual issues.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, law or related field, MRICS would be a plus
  • 10+ years of prime contract administration experience is required within a large international engineering and construction firm is required
  • Recent experience in a contracts administration role either managing a contracts administration/claims team or quantity surveying team handling major contractual disputes
  • Prior experience working in large roads and infrastructure projects is required
  • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of industry business practices and the negotiation of prime contracts
  • Incumbent must also possess strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of PC software packages typically associated with contract administration
  • Ability to perform in a management capacity is also required
