Health & Safety representative (Manager/ Officer) specifically dedicated for each property to ensure the compliance towards DCT & ADPHC Heath & Safety Requirements. Competent in development and implementation of health & Safety management systems and requirements from DCT & ADPHC. Has a qualification, which is at least equivalent to Level 3 Health & Safety. Has a qualification of Abu Dhabi Occupational Health & Safety Practitioners Course ADVETI. Has a qualification of ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor. Can hold IOSH Technical/ Associate level membership or an international equivalent. Has an up to date first aid training (8 hours including CPR). Worked as Health & Safety Representative for more than 2 years in Abu Dhabi, or more than 3 years in other emirates of UAE and 4 years related experience in other regions.Standard Duties:
- To provide a friendly and professional service that always exceeds guests’ and employees’ expectations. Requires knowledge and the ability to operate computer equipment including word processing and spreadsheet software plus other systems (i.e. Opera, Windows, Bayan payroll and analysis reports etc). To safeguard guests and employees with knowledge and application of health and food safety, prevention of food borne illnesses, drills and first aid.
- To ensure you read the hotel's employee handbook and have an understanding of and adhere to the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
- To undertake other duties and responsibilities which, while outside the normal routine, will be within the overall scope of the position.
- To report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform/attire.
- To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene and adhere to the hotel and department personal appearance standards.
- To comply with local legislation as required.
- To maintain good working relationships with your colleagues and all other departments through working by The Golden Rule.
- To respond to any changes in the department as dictated by the needs of the industry, company or hotel.
- To be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capability as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments/areas if required, to meet business demands and guest service needs.
- To conduct and attend training sessions as outlined.
- Must be able to obtain any required food handling and/or sanitation certifications required by local or state agencies.
Roles and Responsibilities to OSHAD:
- Appointed as the “Occupational Safety and Health Management Representative”.
- Responsible for ensuring that the OSHMS is implemented and maintained, and performance reports are presented to top management at least quarterly.
- Ensure that a copy of the OSH Policy is issued to all Managers and appropriate Departments, kept at hand.
- Endeavour to establish at all levels within the hotel the understanding that compliance with the regulations and prevention of injury and damage is essential integral part of business and operational efficiency.
- To increase health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization Provide specialist advice and support to senior management regarding the management of workplace hazards and risks.
- Ensure OSH performance monitoring system is in place to ensure the effectiveness of injury prevention and risk management policies and procedures.
- Ensure that OSH objectives, targets and management programs are established and are consistent with the hotel OSH policy.
- Act as liaisons all internal and relevant external departments and other agencies as needed on matters relative to OSH compliance and issues.
- Assist with the investigation of OSH issues or incidents; Hold OSH committee meetings.
- Reprimand any member of the staff failing to discharge satisfactorily their responsibilities towards health and safety.
- Ensure that the OSH Quarterly performance, annual external audit report, notification of incident and incident investigation are submitted / reported to DCT.
- Ensure risk assessment are conducted and communicated to all concern.
- Provide support to the entire operations team in all aspect of occupational health and safety.
- Ensure training, scheduled meetings and drills are implemented as part of hotel’s OSHMS implementation.
- Providing workplace OSH orientation to employees and contractors in accordance with OSHMS training requirements.
