To strengthen our highly committed and passionate team in Ethiopia we are looking for Head of Finance and Operations based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with some travel to partner organizations.
Overall Role Profile
As an essential member of Light for the World Ethiopia country office team, the head of finance and operations will ensure the smooth and effective operations of the Ethiopia country office by leading the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of all statutory/legal, HR, finance/accounting, controlling, grants management, logistics, IT and administrative service functions, organizational policies and supporting the country director accordingly. S/he sets strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration. S/he is responsible for the leadership of the staff in the operations areas towards the successful achievement of the organization’s strategic objectives, and strategically supporting the CD. This role will be part of the organization’s senior management team.
Specific responsibilities
- Ensure timely compliances with Light for the World policies and statutory requirements for all agreements with government, donors, staff, partners, suppliers, vendors, service providers and other third parties. Remains up to-date on legal and policies changes that impact the operations of the office.
- Responsible for conducting the quarterly and yearly financial planning and oversee the accurate and timely implementation of Light for the World’s financial management and accounting procedures and reporting, the optimal management of cash holdings and the transparent and timely execution of all payments.
- Supports the country director with the overall management of employee performance, employee relations, staff development, and employee reward and recognition.
- Develop long-term operational plans; creates and maintains efficient and effective operational management system that follows organizational policies and procedures.
- Ensures that the organizations property is properly registered, optimally used, maintained and/or disposed and periodic inventories are conducted on time. Oversee the ICT and utility facilities are in good order.
- Analyse risks of the country program/grants/partners/staffs and ensure the CD is well informed and support in setting up proper mitigation plan.
- Strengthen/establish/standardize processes, systems of country office procurement, safety and security and administration and travel systems and develop guidelines and procedures for use.
- Manage relationships and networks with government officials, implementing partners, and other external stakeholders to facilitate efficient implementation of Light for the World’s mission in Ethiopia.
- Interact closely with partners, external stakeholders, and international level colleagues
Supervisory and working relationship
The head of finance and operations works closely with all respective colleagues in the country office and team accounting, controlling and system, grants, program administration, HR and safeguarding in Vienna office. Managing finance, administration, grants, HR, and IT team members.
Reporting to : the Country Director
Job Requirements
- Required qualification, professional experiences, and person’s specifications
- Master’s in business administration, management or relevant disciplines from a recognized university is required.
- 8+ years senior leadership role in the appropriate field in an international organization setup with proven track record is mandatory. Experiences in setting up robust operational systems and ability in implementing and adapting to new changes is required
- Superior knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, administration, HR, Procurement/logistics and employee management
- Ability to streamline and implement new structures and roles that create speed, efficiency, and support rapidly shifting business functions. Have a strong understanding and knowledge of financial analysis is required.
- High level of professional integrity and commitment to Light for the World ’s mission and vision is required. Your interest in development cooperation, on the inclusion of persons with disabilities is vital.
- Fluency in English writing and speaking is mandatory to undertake this role and candidates should possess an excellent speaking and writing English skill.
