Women in Mombasa strike to provide services to bodaboda drivers

Mombasa is a coastal city in southeastern Kenya along the Indian Ocean. The town is known as the white and blue city in Kenya. It is the country's oldest and second-largest city, with a population of about 1,208,333 people according to the 2019 census.

Women who work in Mombasa have joined their counterparts in Kenya in condemning the sexual acts committed against a bodaboda woman driver in Nairobi

The women, through their party, have said that in order to show solidarity with bodaboda drivers(women) in the country will not provide services to male bodaboda drivers for the next week.

"These people are our customers, but as of today no registered sex worker will provide sexual services to any bodaboda driver in this area. If one of us is found with a bodaboda driver for a specified period, his registration will be deregistered." The women's association has stated

They say depriving these drivers of services is one way to push for justice for women who have grown up facing the effects of violence in public places.

"We know living here is where we get our basic needs and provide for our families, but we are ready to overcome hunger so that such acts can be stopped." They have insisted.
