Wyndham Dubai Deira is now seeking a Leisure Supervisor to join our team at Dubai, Deira.
Job Summary
The Health Club Supervisor is responsible for maintaining all fitness operations and producing and directing programs and special events for members and hotel guests. He/she is also responsible for supervising all health club personnel to ensure quality health and fitness services to members and guests.
Education & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field required.
- At least six years progressive experience in a related field; and/or a 4-year college degree and/or 4 years experience and continuing education units; and/or field certification required.
- Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
- Comply with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
- Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
- Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
- Hygiene is key in this environment due to the close proximity of working with the clients. At no time is cigarette smoke allowed to be on the hands, clothes or breath of a spa employee during a shift.
Fundamental Requirements
- Employees must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
- Plan, coordinate, supervise and direct special events and programs for members and corporate games for hotel guests.
- Conduct fitness testing and complimentary orientation workout and exercise prescription upon member and hotel guest request.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the fitness areas and necessary maintenance of fitness equipment.
- Supervise all group activities (aerobic classes, etc.).
- Schedule health club employees according to business demands and Wyndham International guidelines.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating health club employee performance.
- Maintain inventory for professional services while controlling cost and avoiding excess product usage.
- Provide instruction on equipment use as needed.
- Train health club employees as necessary.
- Assist with sales and marketing to promote health club sales.
Responsible for the smooth running of the Health Club and swimming pool activities, to include equipment maintenance, swimming pool instruction, staff supervision and cleanliness of the pool.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Main Duties
- Ensure the safety and security of hotel guests while in the pool area by monitoring pool usage and ensuring that all guests are abiding by published safety rules and guidelines
- Develop a program of instruction for the pool
- Supervise the servicing and maintenance of all pool equipment
- Organize and supervise all pool staff
- To welcome and assist the guests and ensure that the facilities offered to guests and members in the swimming pool area are always in the best condition
- To ensure all health club standards comply with the corporate standards
- To be aware and implement all relevant aspects of health and safety legislation and company procedures thereto
- To maintain the changing rooms of the health club
- Ensure work areas are properly stocked and prepare requisitions as needed
- Ensure work areas are neat and clean
- To answer any guest queries in regards to the services of the health club
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience in the same capacity
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education preferred
- First aid, fitness, CPR certificates etc. preferred
- Knowledge in health and safety procedures
- Knowledge of local law pertaining to health club and swimming pool operations
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language to a high level
- Capable to work under pressure and result oriented
- Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
