“Monkey see monkey do” ... Why are we in Africa not prevailing ?
It is depressing and sad that we in Africa have not utilized that natural manner of engaging so as to emerge and prevail. Neither the native Africa Leadership nor the extended cousins of African-Americans present in the United States, the world’s most successful nation, are in the position to bell that cat!
We do not have mega corporations for economic/business development; but we do have mega churches, because therein lies where we are good at copying but not at transforming!
God is not a partial creator. Anyone willing to engage victorious must make the sacrifice and quit blaming others - and, this way, will get the added blessings of God. Helping oneself is seeking spiritual empowerment and resolve unapologetic never to play second fiddle or catch the rear.
Everyone appear ahead except us Black folk; yet, we are not short on College degrees and other titles!
The relationship among blacks -be they in Africa, USA or south/central America - is fragile, fractured and fragmented, so much that there is no one figure of the race who can command the world stage and earn global respect.
Who speaks for the Blacks ?
Not the black clergy, some who constantly demand titles and preach prosperity for themselves while a majority of their folk who come to hear the word earn less than median household income. Yet, they are always encouraged to always give, give, GIVE!God will not make special trip to commune with Black folk. It is like what the Igloos of Nigeria say: ‘ One does not leave where the is a great party to attend where folks are wailing! ‘.
By proactively engaging ones mind and hands, one can see the benefits.
Slavery and colonial impacts are EXCUSES and not the REASONS. Because of Africa’s checkered past, we should have resolved never let anything or anyone put us asunder. But we are the ones who are ready and willing to offer our talents and resources to others so that we can be seen as being LOVING... But, no one loves us back! Are we doormat ? Go figure.
Now,go take on the day and make something for yourself. One of my uncles says that ‘ One should never ask another to join him/her for a meal when s/he has not fed himself/herself properly! ‘
Take that further: we are reminded in the case of airplane flight turbulence that one must secure oneself before a child. The first order of business/survival is self-preservation, and anything else is playing to the gallery! De eje nu!
