Job Description:
Quantity Surveyor
RAK, UAE
Responsibilities:
- Review all Agreement Documents to make sure of Contractor Scope of works and its contractual obligations under the Agreement.
- Prepare necessary documents/reports and analysis related to contractual issues.
- Manage a team of Quantity Surveyors, preparation of Interim Payment Recommendations for Certification by PMC.
- Assist Project Team with reviewing, commenting and responding to Contractor correspondences. Besides advising, in particular, upon any contractual/commercial aspects raised therein.
- Lead negotiation and commercial/ claims meetings and summarize result after obtaining appropriate confirmations.
- Follow up on the submission by Contractor of all required bank guarantees, warranties, insurances and other specified documentation and verifies their acceptability in accordance with Conditions of Contract.
- Review all projects documentation/correspondence to identify any contractual or commercial implications that may impact adversely the Employer’s interest.
- Initiate preparation of appropriate contractual responses to Contractor for issuance by Project Team to resolve and/or mitigate such matters.
- Monitor and process commercial and contractual aspects pertaining to Variations/Change Orders and claims in accordance with the set standard/procedure of the Employer.
- Review and address all Contractors claims, in association with the Project Control team and Senior Resident Engineer on their validity and contractual grounds.
- Prepare appropriate strategy for resolving or initiating the cost/schedule impact of such claims for approval by Employer.
- Implement the approved claim strategy and assists with the negotiation of an optimized and fair settlement while maintaining the Employer’s Interest.
- Complete final settlement and close-out of the contract by coordinating with Contractors/Project Team
- Interact with Project Management Consultant, Client representatives and the Contractors in respect of all contractual/commercial matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Client Representatives/ PMC/ line manager/supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering / QS, or a relevant degree.
- Professional membership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or similar would be a distinct advantage.
- 10 years of multi-disciplinary experience in large infrastructure projects.
- Sound understanding of FIDIC 1999 Conditions of Contract.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Able to develop good working relationships with clients and their agents.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English.
