We are looking for an experienced negotiator and pragmatic problem solver with a passion for privacy and technology. You must have superb verbal and written communication skills, and be adept at navigating complex and nuanced data protection issues in a strategic manner. As Privacy Counsel you will report to a Director of Legal in a growing, world-class legal team.
AS PRIVACY COUNSEL, YOU WILL:
• Draft and negotiate privacy and data protection agreements with vendors, customers and partners
• Partner closely with and advise our security, product, marketing, sales, HR and other business teams on privacy and data protection-related legal matters
• Evaluate the impact of U.S. and international legislation, regulations and industry guidelines involving privacy and security
• Help mature the privacy program across the entire company, including impact assessments, training, certifications, program assessments and audits, and policy and procedure development
• Work collaboratively on cross-functional projects related to data governance, data protection and privacy by design
• Provide sound advice and guidance on legal and business-related issues to senior business leaders
OUR IDEAL PRIVACY COUNSEL WILL HAVE:
• 4+ years substantive privacy legal experience preferably in-house with a successful, high-growth enterprise SaaS company, and 2+ years negotiating privacy terms
• Knowledge of worldwide data protection regulations, including GDPR and HIPAA
• Outstanding written and oral communications skills
• Excellent negotiation skills with vendors and customers
• Exceptional organizational, project management, and prioritization skills
• The ability to think and execute both strategically and tactically
• Experience scaling business and legal processes and policies for a rapidly growing organization
• The ability to work with a wide variety of people, at all levels in the organization, in a fast-paced environment
• Service-oriented, professional and strong integrity
• A good sense of humor and passionate about your work
