The Role
Our Payments and Expenses Officers are responsible for accurately processing and reconciling circa £140 million of charitable expenditure, ensuring that Legion policies and procedures are adhered to. This includes payments for goods and services provided to those we support, which are vital to our charitable work. In this role, you will be the key point of contact for suppliers, staff, and volunteers, taking complete ownership of the supplier and expense accounts assigned to you. You will be responsible for reconciling accounts and resolving queries, whilst providing an excellent level of customer service to internal and external customers.

To succeed in this role, you will need a proven track record of working in a Finance role in a large and complex organisation with high transactional volumes, preferably in Payables. You will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of double entry book-keeping and will have experience of completing large and complex reconciliations using data from multiple databases. As well as a high level of attention to detail, you will have effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and at all levels of the organisation. You will be comfortable working independently, managing a varied workload, and taking responsibility for completing tasks to strict deadlines.

The location of this role is flexible and home working is an option, however, the successful candidate will be expected to spend a reasonable amount of time at our Head Office in London on a regular basis.
