This position will technically support and direct the process design, scope, specification, project, maintenance, asset management and management of change processes ensuring that the Customer Stations, Fleet, & Hydrogen Mobility Engineering functions fully supports profitable growth in the Middle East region by optimizing the capital investment, project execution and stewardship of each installation in a safe and cost effective way.
NATURE & SCOPE
The position, reporting to the Middle East Process Technology & Engineering Director, is the senior technical authority and process owner for all Engineering and Operations matters for Customer Stations, Fleet, Hydrogen Mobility Installations, & trans fills for the Middle East. The incumbent covers all technical issues associated with the wide range of installations including direct interface with customers, external government bodies, competitors, and trade associations. The responsible person provides day to day safe, reliable, and efficient operations and maintenance support for the systems under the position’s responsibility located within the Region across the Middle East. The Position may be based in a facility or a regional office, however, will be responsible for a region as the business expands.

This position interfaces with Air Products global, regional, and local Customer Stations, Fleet Engineering, & Hydrogen Energy Systems team members, project and design engineering teams, safety, and other technical support personnel in the execution of the responsibilities of this position. The position will help implement the necessary systems and measures to support the Middle East Customer Stations & Hydrogen Energy Systems Business, technical standards, quality processes, fleet, and equipment operations and maintenance. As a member of the Regional team, the Customer Stations & Hydrogen Mobility Engineering Manager will interact routinely with, maintenance, and engineering personnel for field-engineering & troubleshooting support, instructions, and technical guidance related to the customer stations, fleet, and hydrogen customer stations operations & maintenance. The position emphasizes teamwork, communications, organization, change management, work process optimization, planning, leadership, and hands-on technical skills.
The position is a senior authority and process owner for all Engineering and Operation matters for Liquid Bulk & MicroBulk Distribution Operation and Fleet Maintenance respectively for the Middle East. Operational issues associated with the distribution operation including the direct interface with customers, external government bodies, competitors, trade association are managed.
The incumbent will manage and direct distribution operation, fleet maintenance, asset management and management of change processes ensuring that the Supply Chain function fully supports profitable growth by optimizing the capital investment, equipment and manpower resources in a safe, reliable and cost-effective way.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
Safety
- Provide & maintain a safe work environment for self & others. Demonstrate leadership with all company & industry safe work processes to prevent injuries. Ensure proper documentation is maintained for safety related activities.
- Develop and implement an EH&S action plan and lead all EH&S related initiatives and requirements to ensure compliance with Air Products objectives and National Legislation.
- Provide technical support services for new installations, existing plant modifications, on-going operations, and continuous improvement and maintenance activities for the customer stations in the Region. Ensure the activities related meet legal requirements and comply with Air Products safety and technical standards.
- Support and lead investigations and Root Cause Analysis in order to identify & implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Act as the internal technical reference point for Customer Engineering, Fleet, and Hydrogen Systems and as external representation on industry trade associations and government agencies to ensure that Air Products Corporate specific technical and EH&S standards are communicated and endorsed.
- Manage, direct and continually improve the Project (bid, install, & commission) phases of all associated installations with the function. Safety, profitability, and customer satisfaction to be maintained/improved by implementation and development of established work processes for the range of customer requirements and fleet expansions.
- To manage, direct and continually improve the maintenance of customer installations by identification and resolution (elimination of root cause) of breakdowns, development and implementation of an effective preventative maintenance program, and organization of the required resources.
- To plan and optimize the Liquid Bulk & MicroBulk distribution operation for a safe, reliable and efficient delivery of products to customers by working closely with multi-functional team of Schedulers and Tactical Planners.
- To manage, direct and continually improve the maintenance of distribution fleet equipment by identification and resolution (elimination of root cause) of breakdowns, development and implementation of an effective preventative maintenance program, and organization of the required resources.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical / Chemical) with >15 years of related process operations or maintenance experience in Customer Engineering, Industrial Gases/ Chemical / Refinery / Gas plant Eight + years in management preferred.
- Safety conscious
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical/chemical engineering practices, principles and methods.
- Project Management and planning experience

- Demonstrated “hands-on” ability to technically troubleshoot issues for the function.
- Demonstrate ability to read engineering drawings, flow sheets, equipment layout, piping drawings and electrical controls schematics
- Knowledge & understanding with the principles of: Safety Integrity Level (SIL), Safety Instrumented System (SIS), Safety Instrumented Function (SIF), Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)
- Experience and knowledge in the safety, operations, and maintenance of Hydrogen Transfill stations or similar.
- Knowledgeable in Customer Stations, Fleet Optimization & Safety, Hydrogen Operations & Machinery safety, health, and local environmental requirements a plus.
- A strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity.
- Able to communicate between management, operations, maintenance, customers.
- Proficiency in English speaking and writing, Arabic language skills is a plus.
- Demonstrated organizational, computer (Microsoft Office) and interpersonal skills combined with good communications skills (written and verbal) in English a must.
- The position requires after hours availability and must be able to respond to situations on a 24/7 basis. Regional travel to other regions within the Middle East to assist with projects or Fleet issues.
